What happens at the appointment?

What happens at the appointment?

Our appointments are quick and easy, usually taking no more than 10 minutes.

When you arrive at your most convenient branch, you will be asked a short series of questions to confirm which vaccine is suitable for you. Then a trained professional will inject the vaccine into your upper arm. As with all medicines, there may be some side effects but these are usually mild and should disappear within a day or two. The most common side effects include:

  • Redness, soreness or bruising at the injection site
  • A high temperature, sweating, shivering or feeling unwell
  • Headaches, fatigue or dizziness
  • Aching muscles or joints

In the rare event that you have an allergic reaction to the vaccination, our vaccinators are trained to help with this.

How often do I need a vaccination?

The flu virus changes every winter, so even if you have had a previous vaccination against flu it is important to have a regular yearly vaccination.
